I really like that quote! I hadn't heard it before.
I read Adler's book, "How to Read a Book", a few years ago. Some of his hints, such as writing in the book, were pretty helpful for me.
The only thing I didn't like was that he, if I remember correctly, didn't think you should "argue" with the author's perspective until you were done with the book. But I can't see that even temporarily accepting an unbelieving author's worldview would be healthy or advisable. Anyway... ;-)
