Psalms 66
1 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.
5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
8 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.
10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.
16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Thoughts for today

Good Day!
It is a beautiful day full of new life and sunshine. When I wake up to days like this and take the time to stop and really look at them I am amazed and full of warmth. The Lord is so good to us. He gives us days to enjoy, if we will take the time to see the beauty He has left us here on earth. I think it is sad when I miss the beauty around me. I am too busy with life in the fast lane and I miss the small things in life that can show me another piece of God's magnificence. On my way to work today I got to see some rabbits in a field, birds along the side of the road on the telephone wires, squirrels in the trees, and the flowers showing off, for all who will look. All of these little things are showing off their beauty for the glory of the Lord. Psalms 29:2 - Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Psalms 90:17 - And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
There is so much beauty in the things of the Lord. We need to slow down and see it around us occasionally. Just some thoughts for the day. :)
Hope you are able to stop and see the good and the beauty in what the Lord has left around you today. It may be something outside, inside, or in a person that you are ministering to or with today. Psalms 34:8 - O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him

A Chance to Die

A Chance to Die
By Elisabeth Elliot

To be transformed into the image of Christ I must learn his character, love his obedience to the will of the Father, and begin, step by step, to walk the same pathway. For Christ the pathway of obedience began with emptying Himself. I must begin at the same place. He rejoiced in serving the Father's purposes.

He "made Himself nothing." (Phil 2:7 NEB)

"You must arm yourselves with a temper of mind like His." (l Pt 4:1 NEB)

"If anyone wishes to be a follower of mine, he must leave self behind." (Mt 16:24 NEB)

What does this mean? Is it mere words? How can one leave self behind, make himself nothing? The answer will not come in a vacuum. If a man or woman honestly wishes to be a follower, the opportunity will present itself. Christ will say, "Here is your chance. Now, in this situation, you must make your choice. Will it be self? Or will you choose Me?"

An older missionary said something to Amy Carmichael when she was a young missionary that stayed with her for life. She had spoken of something which was not to her liking. His reply was, "See in it a chance to die."

I'm Back

We are back home and both of us are working again. :) Married life is wonderful and I am enjoying it completely and entirely. We had a great honeymoon and have been home for 3 days now and that has been lots of fun as well. We have gotten to see both of our families a few times and have enjoyed talking to them and catching up. It was fun hearing all the little things that have happened while we've been gone.

Anyway, I am back and starting a life with my husband in our house...:-) Wow, I love the sound of that "our house". : )

I will try to blog again soon.
